Total Automotive Repair Service

AAMCO of Beaumont offers total automotive repair services. We make auto repairs an easy one-stop shopping experience for today's busy customers. We offer our services for the following:

Air Conditioning

The car or truck air conditioner is a necessity to drivers in Southeast Texas. To remove heat from the passenger compartment, all major A/C system components must operate at peak efficiency. Each component is dependent upon the function of the others. The spread of contaminants reduces system efficiency and will eventually lock up the compressor or block the flow of the refrigerant lubricant. AAMCO personnel can solve your A/C problems. Ask us about the newest noninvasive treatment.

Brakes

Signs that your vehicles's brakes may need servicing:

  • The brake pedal can be depressed nearly to the floor.
  • There is a squealing or grinding noise when you apply the brakes.
  • The car pulls to one side during braking.
  • The brake pedal feels spongy or pulses when you press on it.
  • The rear wheels lock during braking.
  • The brake warning light in your vehicle stays on.

Correcting problems with the braking system on your car or truck can prevent serious safety problems, and waiting to have the system serviced can make the problems worse.

Cooling System Service

Cooling system failure is the leading cause of mechanical failure on the highway, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. AAMCO's Cooling System Service can help prevent big problems.

  • Rust, corrosion, scale build-up, and the formation of acid all contribute to the likelihood of cooling system failure.
  • If your cooling system fails, your engine and transmission could suffer severe damage. Your transmission life will decrease by 1/2 for every 20 degrees of excess heat that it is submitted to.

Exhaust Systems

Your exhaust system is more than a muffler, it is a series of pipes that run under your car, connected with your muffler and your catalytic converter. The main function of your exhaust system is to control noise and to funnel exhaust fumes away from passengers. Exhaust gases contain dangerous substances such as carbon monoxide, which can be hazardous if allowed to flow into the passenger housing of the car.

A car's exhaust system routes waste gases from the engine to the rear of the car, where they are discharged into the atmosphere. The exhaust system also converts pollutants into less harmful byproducts, reduces the noise of the engine, and directs exhaust gases so they can be used to heat air and fuel before they go into the engine's cylinders to be burned. Finally, the exhaust system provides just the right amount of backpressure into the engine to improve its fuelburning efficiency and increase performance. Key components of your exhaust system include:

  • Exhaust pipes, designed specifically for each car model to properly route exhaust to the back of the car
  • Exhaust manifold (some engines have two), acts like a funnel, collecting exhaust gases from all cylinders and releasing it through a single opening
  • Catalytic converter, designed to reduce the amount of harmful emissions products by transforming pollutants into water vapor and less harmful gases
  • Muffler, a metal container with holes, baffles and chambers that muffles exhaust noise
  • Resonator, which works with the muffler to reduce noise
  • Tail pipe (found at the back of the car), is designed to carry exhaust gases away from the vehicle.

All components of the exhaust system are connected with a series of clamps, hangers, flanges, and gaskets.

Tuneups & Engine Overhaul

If your car has any of the following symptoms, it might be time for a tuneup:

  • Poor fuel mileage
  • Hard starts
  • A loss of power or hesitations
  • Rough idling
  • Stalling

All vehicle manufacturers recommends that tuneups be performed periodically at different intervals specified for each make of car or truck. We have the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle and can explain what servicees need to be performed.

If your engine requires a major overhaul, we do that too. We disassemble the engine and inspect all parts. We then clean up and salvage all good parts and replace the worn or broken parts. A rebuilt engine has the following:

  • New Pistons, Rings, Timing Components, Freeze Plugs, Gasket Sets, Valve Guides, Lifters, virtually all with Oil Pumps, Rod, Cam and Main Bearings.
  • Crankshafts and Camshafts are reground, polished, and oil holes chamfered to rigid specifications.
  • Valve Seats are 3-angle cut for Optimum Sealing, new valves are used on most applications.
  • Blocks are shot blast cleaned and magnafluxed to assure unseen cracks do not cause a premature failure.
  • Block Deck and cylinder heads are resurfaced to assure proper sealing—all blocks are line honed.
  • Valve stems are centerless ground, butt cut, and chamfered to assure proper clearance and oil control.
  • Engines are 100% functionally tested.
  • New cams are used on flat tappet small block Chevrolet applications.

Suspension: Shocks & Struts

Maintain that new car feel through regular inspections.

Symptoms of a suspension problem:

  • A rough ride
  • Bottoming out
  • Uneven wear of tires

If you have any of these symptoms, ask us about replacing your shocks or struts.
